Sam & Max Season Two coming to retail, Wii
Posted by emily December 2, 2008

Sam & Max box art or pulpy dime store
paperback? (Art not yet final, but close.)
The Sam & Max front has gone quiet lately as we buckle down on other projects, but today I bring good news from across the pond!

This morning at a swanky press event in London, Atari announced a new partnership with Telltale to bring Sam & Max Season Two to retail worldwide in 2009. And no, this isn't just for PC -- it'll be coming out for Wii as well! Plus this will be the first time foreign language versions of Season Two are available, with fully localized releases in French and German, as well as Italian and Spanish subtitles.

We don't have a ton more to say about this right now, but both Telltale and Atari are really excited about the partnership and the chance to get Sam & Max out to an even bigger audience.

In other news, has anyone in Europe spotted Sam & Max Season One for Wii in the shops yet? English, French, Spanish, and Italian versions should be shipping out as we speak. (German's coming in 2009!) If you happen to see the game on a store shelf, why not snap a picture on the fly and send it our way, hmm?

Is there a reason I can't find sam&max season 1 for Wii at Fry's? I've looked at three different ones in the peninsula/south bay. Hopefully the distribution deal with Atari will reach farther :)

This is good news :) will be getting this as soon as it hits Wii, because the first Season was superb and Season Two looks even better

I don't know if Fry's is carrying it. Try Gamestop or Circuit City, or online at Amazon.

That really should be the cover.

Sam and Max? Check.

T.H.E.M spaceship? Check.

Random people who were previously in the 2nd season? Check.

Everything else needed for a awesome game cover? CHECK.

Reminds me to Finish up Season 1 for the Wii...

P.S: You really should make the 8-Bit is Enough page now.

Atari?!? I thought that company was dead, and what are ttg and atari doing working together?!?!

I don't like Atari's latest games, but whatever gets the games out faster, amiright? P.S. You should have a discount for people who already have Season 2, and raise the price to include a DVD lacking the games on disc.

great news, and right after i mail ordered the Wii version of season one!

I was afraid that Season Two would stay off the Wii because One woudn't sell very well because the publisher was a small one and never appeared in any stores up here.

Atari has also had experience with Adventure games since they also published Indigo Prophecy. Hope this means there will be more exposure for this retail release

Also: I don't think we'll see Sam and Max on the 360 and PS3 for a while: Sony and Microsoft seem to still see the genre as poison right now

I wouldn't call Adventure Company small but more of a niche genre publisher for North America.

The Euro distribution was done by JoWood, which is one of the bigger European publisher.

Either way, it's good that Infogrames Atari is going to publish Season Two. Hopefully they will put more budget into the marketing and spread the word out to the Average Joe Gamer.

This is great news telltales working with a big publisher. I might actually see season 2 in stores in Australia! I'm not expecting to see season 1 wii here anytime soon which is a shame because Australia is one of sam & Max's biggest markets.

How much will it sell for?
$20 again?
That was the greatest deal of my life!
(P.S. the box cover looks much better than it did for Season 1, after all, it really is my only real acess to S&M!)

I sure hope the Wii version is more widely availible than Season One.

Even though I already have Season 1 on my PC, I do hope Atari could get the rights to publish the first season. That is if they'll give it a wider distribution.

Great to hear that Sam & Max is getting localized. Just wish Brazilian Portuguese was included... which by the way I would be honored to translate and adapt the subtitles, if possible. Contact me if you're interested!

Fry's only has the PC version as far as I know...don't think they've picked up the wii version at all (as far as their website is concerned at least). Gamestop/EB Games are your best bet, the south bay one's had a ton.

I did the review of Sam & Max Season One (french version) on the Wii for the TV channel I work for, as I did for Seasons One and Two for PC back in the day (the downloadable versions) :)

I ended up picking up Season 1 for Wii at GameStop. They only had ONE copy on the shelves, and it was buried amongst all the crapware. I'd much rather purchase from a locally-owned company, though. Fry's carries all kinds of locally produced stuff -- I seem to recall hearing that Harmonix guys worked with Fry's directly for distribution of the original Guitar Hero.

It would be great to see it on the shelves at Fry's -- multiple copies, even -- if you guys (and/or Atari) can swing it. God knows Fry's carries boatload of other Adventure Company distributed titles!
